“Public-Viewing” describes the viewing of an event (like our festival) in a public crowd on big screen. The phrase was established in Germany during the 2006 world cup, but is gradually being adopted into “real” English for lack of a better term.
We are currently looking for venues where our festival can be run as a “public-viewing”, depending on the current corona situation. The idea is that we provide a continuous festival programme in the form of online playlists for free. Venues of all kinds are invited to present this programme to their guests as a special event, create their own events around it, advertise with it etc.
We are going to publish a list of participating venues here to guide people to your event. Additionally you find posters and flyers below that you can print and use to advertise the event with your customers.
If you want to support MUHAG 2021 with a “public-viewing” event inbox us at
Thank you for participating.
- We post online concerts on streaming platforms like YouTube and Facebook, along with playlists that if started on time allow to present the programme according to a festival schedule published on this site.
- We publish a list of participating “public-viewing” locations on this site.
- We are NOT running the events held in participating venues. So we are NOT responsible for neither legal offenses, accidents or any issues arising in connection with these events nor for any of the organizer’s actions. The organizers and venue-owners themselves are responsible to obey the laws and regulations of their respective countries and cities. These include royalty issues (GEMA, ZIMURA), corona regulations, municipal regulations etc.
- We provide materials here that can be used by the participating venues to advertise their “public-viewing” events. Any other use is not permitted.
Simplified registration procedure for gastronomy businesses in Munich
Of course, we cannot assess the corona situation in September. So the following statements refer to the current legal situation only, and may need to be adapted in case of changes. They also apply in the city of Munich only.
As long as the use of your gastronomy business does not change as a result of the public viewing, the hygiene concept of gastronomy applies, which you already adhere to. In this case, the district administration department (KVR) offers a free and unbureaucratic solution: Simply let us know the name and address of your business by 25.08.2021 at the latest, preferably by email to
We will then register you all together with KVR and receive a free collective confirmation, which we will make available for you to download here. We will then also include your business in the list of public viewing locations that we publish here.
Important: If the use of your gastronomy business changes due to the “public-viewing”, e.g. due to a stage set-up or significantly changed seating, this blanket approval is unfortunately not possible. In this case, an examination and, if necessary, an individual order of legal safety requirements must be carried out in individual cases. In addition, the hygiene concept for cultural events may then have to be adhered to. To do this, please contact the district inspection responsible for you yourself. Of course, it is allowed, for example, to remove chairs to make space for a canvas. Just make sure that you keep following the rules, especially that the escape route is not being blocked. Fire protection regulations must also continue to be observed.
Please also remember that presentations and music are unfortunately not allowed in the open bar areas (on urban traffic grounds). In your own restaurant and your own garden, however, this is possible – as before Corona – within the framework of the applicable immission values, subordinate to regular restaurant operations.
